WHAT IS THIS HOMESCHOOL PLANNER?

Homeschooling runs on plans that fit real life: the co-op morning that eats Tuesday, the library trip, the day a lesson takes twenty minutes and the day it takes two hours. This free homeschool planner printable gives you a clean weekly grid, Monday through Friday, with rows for Math, Reading, Science, History, Art, and a notes row for everything else. One page holds the whole school week at a glance, whether you are teaching one child or juggling three. This homeschool planner printable is free to download – print as many copies as you like.

It is built for homeschool parents who want enough structure to stay on track without a planner that takes longer to fill in than the lessons take to teach. Write the week’s assignments on Sunday evening, check things off as they are done, and carry anything unfinished into next week’s sheet. If your state requires record-keeping, a stack of these filled-in pages makes a simple, honest portfolio of what you actually covered.

For daily routines outside of schoolwork, our weekly cleaning schedule helps divide housework into small daily tasks that fit around lessons.

WHAT’S INSIDE THIS HOMESCHOOL PLANNER PRINTABLE

WEEKLY GRID, MONDAY TO FRIDAY

Five wide columns, one per weekday, give each day generous writing space. The grid format means you see the whole week in one view, which makes it easy to spot an overloaded Wednesday or an empty Friday you can use for catch-up, field trips, or art projects.

SUBJECT ROWS

Six rows cover the core of most homeschool weeks: Math, Reading, Science, History, Art, and Notes. The subjects are printed so you never have to rewrite them, and the Notes row at the bottom catches spelling lists, music practice, PE, appointments, and anything else that does not fit a subject. If you follow a different subject mix, the Notes row flexes to cover it.

WEEK-OF DATE LINE

A “Week of” line at the top dates each sheet, so your growing stack stays in order. Dated pages turn into a term-by-term record with zero extra effort, which is genuinely useful if you ever need to show what your child studied and when.

CHECKBOX-FRIENDLY CELLS

The grid cells are sized for short lesson notes plus a small check mark when work is done. That daily check-off rhythm matters: it shows your child visible progress through the week and gives you a quick Friday review of what actually happened versus what you planned.

HOW TO USE THIS HOMESCHOOL PLANNER PRINTABLE

  1. On Sunday evening, print one sheet and write the week’s start date on the “Week of” line.
  2. Fill in fixed commitments first: co-op classes, tutoring, library day, appointments. These are the rocks the rest of the week flows around.
  3. Pencil in the week’s lessons per subject, one or two lines per cell. Keep it brief. “Ch. 4 fractions” beats a paragraph.
  4. Each morning, glance at the column for that day with your child. Knowing what is coming removes the negotiation.
  5. Check off completed work during the day. Move anything unfinished with an arrow to the next day rather than rewriting it.
  6. Friday, two minutes: review the sheet, note what slipped and why, and file it. Patterns across weeks, like Science always sliding to Friday, tell you where the plan needs adjusting.

PRINTING TIPS

Print at “Actual size” or 100 percent scale so the grid cells stay roomy enough for handwriting. Standard 80 GSM copy paper is fine for a single week’s use. If you file every week’s sheet as a record, slightly heavier 100 GSM paper holds up better in a binder and takes pencil erasing well when plans change mid-week. Both A4 and US Letter versions are included in the download, so use whichever fits your printer. The black-and-white layout prints cleanly on any home printer and photocopies sharply if you want blank spares.

WHY A WEEKLY GRID WORKS FOR HOMESCHOOL

Daily planners force you to re-decide everything every morning, which is exhausting when you are also the teacher, the cook, and the administrator. A weekly view lets you batch the planning decision once and then just execute. It also teaches children to see time the way adults do: the week as a unit with a beginning, a busy middle, and a finish line. Many homeschool families find that Friday reviews get calmer within a month, because the grid makes it obvious that a light Tuesday was a choice, not a failure.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Is this planner really free?

Yes. The PDF is free for personal use in both A4 and US Letter sizes. Print one per week for the whole school year.

Can I use this for multiple children?

Yes. Print one sheet per child, or assign each child a color of pen on a shared sheet if their schedules overlap heavily. Most families with two or more children find one sheet per child stays readable.

What if we homeschool year-round or on a different schedule?

The sheet is undated except for the “Week of” line you fill in yourself, so it works for any rhythm: traditional school year, year-round, or four-day weeks. Just leave unused columns blank or repurpose one for Saturday.

Do you have other family planners?

Yes. Our daily planner template works well for planning your own day around lessons, the weekly meal planner simplifies feeding the family during busy school weeks, and the weekly cleaning schedule keeps the house running without eating into teaching time.
