WHAT IS THIS WEEKLY RESET CHECKLIST?

Monday hits differently when Sunday did the work. The weekly reset — sometimes called the Sunday reset — is a short, structured routine that closes out the old week and sets up the new one: home tidied, money checked, week planned, self recharged. This free weekly reset checklist printable puts the whole routine on one page: four sections (Home Reset, Money Reset, Week Planning, Self Reset), each with five checkable items plus blank lines for your own. This weekly reset checklist is free to download – print as many copies as you like.

It is for anyone whose weeks feel like they start already behind — laundry from last week still in the dryer, no plan for dinners, bills half-checked, and the vague Sunday-night dread that comes from an unclosed week. The reset fixes this in about an hour. Not a deep clean, not a life overhaul: just enough closure and preparation that Monday morning feels like a beginning instead of a continuation.

The magic is in the closing, not the planning. An open week leaks into the next one — the unanswered message, the unpaid bill, the fridge of good intentions. The reset is a shutdown ritual for your life: you review what happened, handle what is small, schedule what is big, and then you are done. People who do a weekly reset consistently report the same thing: the anxiety was never about the workload, it was about the open loops. Close the loops, and the week gets quieter.

Pair it with the weekly systems it feeds: plan the week in our ADHD weekly planner, map dinners with our weekly meal planner, and check the money section against our bill payment tracker. The reset is the hub; those sheets are the spokes.

WHAT’S INSIDE THIS WEEKLY RESET CHECKLIST

HOME RESET

Five items that return the house to baseline: run the laundry start-to-put-away, change the sheets, clear the fridge of the expired, take out all trash and recycling, and do a 15-minute whole-house pickup. Not deep cleaning — resetting. The goal is “ready for the week,” not “ready for guests.”

MONEY RESET

Five items that keep finances current: check account balances, pay any bills due this week, review last week’s spending for surprises, move the savings transfer, and update the budget. Fifteen minutes that prevent the slow financial drift most people only notice at month’s end. If money is your focus area, our monthly budget sheet is the deeper tool.

WEEK PLANNING

Five items that design the week before it designs you: review the calendar for appointments and deadlines, pick the week’s top three priorities, plan dinners for at least five nights, schedule workouts or movement, and prep anything Monday morning needs (bags packed, clothes out, lunch ready). A planned week is not a rigid week — it is a week with guardrails.

SELF RESET

Five items for the person running the whole operation: pick three self-care items for the week ahead, set a sleep schedule and protect it, plan one thing to look forward to, forgive last week’s misses (write them down, then let them go), and set one intention for the week in a single sentence. The reset is not complete until you are in the plan too.

WRITE-IN LINES

Each section has two blank lines, because every life has its own reset items — water the plants, charge the devices, call your mother. The printed items are the starter set; the blanks make it yours.

HOW TO USE THIS WEEKLY RESET CHECKLIST

  1. Pick your reset window: Sunday afternoon or evening works for most people, but any consistent 60–90 minutes does. Put it in the calendar as a recurring appointment — the reset only works if it actually happens.
  2. Start with Home Reset while something pleasant plays — music, a podcast, a show you have seen before. The reset should feel like a ritual, not a chore. Environment matters more than discipline here.
  3. Move to Money Reset with your banking app and bills open. Pay what is due, glance at spending, move savings first. This is the section people skip and the section that saves the most stress.
  4. Do Week Planning with your calendar and our weekly planner side by side. Appointments first, then top three priorities, then dinners and prep. Ninety percent of “chaotic weeks” are just unplanned weeks.
  5. Finish with Self Reset — deliberately last, so it does not get squeezed out. Pick the week’s self-care items, set the intention sentence, and formally close the week. Done is done.
  6. Keep the old sheets for a month. Flipping back shows you which sections you always skip — that is data about your life, not failure. Adjust the blanks to fit reality, not the ideal.

PRINTING TIPS

Print at “Actual size” or 100 percent scale so the checkboxes stay comfortable to tick. Standard 80 GSM paper is fine for weekly use. Laminating the sheet or using a dry-erase sleeve turns it into a reusable ritual card — wipe it clean every Sunday and start fresh. Both A4 and US Letter versions are included. The black-and-white design prints cleanly on any home printer and photocopies well.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Is this checklist really free?

Yes. The PDF is free for personal use in both A4 and US Letter sizes. Print one per week for as long as you like.

Does it have to be Sunday?

No. The routine works any day — what matters is that it happens once a week, before the new week starts. Shift workers do it on their last day off; the “Sunday reset” name is tradition, not a rule.

What if I don’t have a full hour?

Do the two highest-leverage sections: Week Planning (20 minutes) and Money Reset (15 minutes). Those two prevent most Monday chaos. Add Home and Self sections back when life calms down — a partial reset still beats no reset.

How is this different from a weekly planner?

A planner organizes the week ahead; the reset closes the week behind and maintains the systems (home, money, self) the planner runs on. They are companions: do the reset Sunday, then plan the week in our ADHD weekly planner or the classic daily planner template.
